1. Award Introduction

OCSIIDA2024 Oriental Creative Star International Innovation Design Award is an international award in the field of industrial design approved by the Center for International Economic and Technological Cooperation Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The award focuses on the field of industrial design, takes into account other types of design fields, highlights the international characteristics of participants and works, aims to promote the integration and innovation of design education and industry, stimulate the enthusiasm of art design and interdisciplinary talents, gather outstanding creative design thinking from around the world, improve the comprehensive quality and ability of designers, and promote international exchanges and cooperation. Taking the award as the starting point, through international platforms such as the China International Industrial Design Expo and the China-ASEAN Expo Industrial Design Week, we will continue to strengthen the linkage and cooperation with major design organizations and international awards around the world, carry out international exchanges and cooperation among global universities and related industries, provide services for contemporary design talents with international vision, and build a platform for global design cultural exchanges.

In the past four years, the award has attracted the participation of 79 countries or regions around the world, and has been widely recognized by universities, design industries and related industries around the world. The 5th award has 10 international divisions, and is held in the format of "regional selection and finals".

The 5th award was officially launched on December 2, 2023 during the 6th China International Industrial Design Fair.

4. Contestants

Teachers and students of colleges and universities, artists, designers, art and design enthusiasts. Note: Submissions from China are not accepted.

A. Student group: undergraduate, master's and doctoral students in colleges and universities; Vocational college students.  

B. Professional group: teachers, designers, artists.  

5. Award Schedule

A. Award Arrangement

Adopt the "selection award, finals" + regional coordination mode to run the organization. 

(1) Trials

The award area will be set up in the country or region, and the collection and evaluation of entries will be organized according to the established rules. There will be no awards, and the outstanding works that meet the specified conditions will be advanced to the finals; The sub-award area can organize forums, exhibitions, workshops and other activities related to the award.

(2) Finals

The organizing committee of the award organizes the review of the works selected for the finals in each sub-division, and plans and organizes a series of activities such as awards ceremonies, publicity activities, and incubation applications.

(3) Regional Cooperation

The member institutions of the Executive Committee of the corresponding sub-division are responsible for organizing or undertaking academic activities such as regional work exhibition forums, sub-division review meetings, and international design workshops in the international award area.

B. Schedule

Submission Deadline: August 20, 2024;

Judging of the award: August 25 - September 25;

Announcement of awards: The national awards will be announced on September 30;

Awards will be awarded around December 2024.

6. Category of Entries

Advocating the study of the essence of human culture and art, focusing on the elements of oriental culture, combining the direction of the development of science and technology industry and education, advocating the combination of local cultural and artistic characteristics, and freely choosing the theme for the creation of art and design works.

A. Works of art: painting, sculpture, calligraphy, seal carving, arts and crafts, etc.

B. Design works: industrial product design, visual communication, environmental design, fashion design, digital media, film and television arts, non-heritage cultural and creative works, meta-universe and so on.

C. Artificial Intelligence Generation (AIGC): Creative design utilizing artificial intelligence generative tools, with no restriction on the theme, no restriction on the form, and both static and dynamic works are eligible. Must briefly describe the following in the design description on the work submission page. Mainly include: (1) creative description; (2) the name of the tools used and the combination of tools; (3) description of the creative process; (4) tips, reverse tips, model name, parameter settings and so on.

Suggestion: Combine the traditional oriental culture to create, fully reflect the depth of creativity and technology.

Note: AIGC entries are only allowed to be submitted to this track, and AIGC entries are not allowed to be used in other tracks, and AIGC entries will be regarded as invalid entries if they are mistakenly submitted to other tracks.

7. Entry Requirements

A. Static works: Submit 1~5 exhibition panels such as physical objects or model photos and design renderings in a flat manner. Each display board is A3 layout (width 297mm× height 420mm), size within 5M, accuracy higher than 300dpi; Upload in jpg format, not in compressed file format.  

B. Dynamic works: submitted in the form of videos, the size should not exceed 100M, and within 5 minutes normally, a maximum of 1 piece should be uploaded; Format requirements: mp4 (video encoding: H.264). Once the video is uploaded, you can also choose to add an image of the video (optional).

Concentrate:

(1) Artistic works, digital works in the form of scans or high-definition shooting. There are no restrictions on the size, material, and use of painting tools. After winning the award, the physical object will be submitted according to the needs of the exhibition.

(2) For interactive works, submit games, interactive effects and other process preview videos in the form of videos, record the actual running screen of the program, and submit the executable program at the same time.

(3) For works related to product design, the creative process and the work display video can be submitted at the same time.

2. Design description: no more than 200 words, explaining the highlights, creativity, culture significance, design process and other information of the work. Submissions must not include any information and identification of the author. The design description is filled in on the submission page and cannot be uploaded as a document file. Submissions by email are in the form of individual documents.

3. Number of authors: Individuals or teams can participate in the award, and teams can be formed across units, and the number of authors for each work shall not exceed 3.

8. Submission Method

The evaluation of works is divided into selection and finals, and the outstanding works in each division are pushed to the global finals, and each award is finally selected.

(2)Please submit the Author Information Sheet (word file) along with your designs. The information sheet contains the description of the work, the author's nationality, name of organization/institution, real name, email address and other information.

(3)Submit the work and the author's information sheet as an attachment to an e-mail. In the body of the email, state the category of the work and the description of the work's design.

9. Prize Settings

A. There will be no specific awards in the selection award, and the selected works will be directly pushed to the global finals through the sub-divisions.

B. Awards for the finals: Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award, and Outstanding Organization Unit Award.

10. Intellectual Property Rights & Instructions

A. Intellectual Property Rights

(1) The participant shall own the full intellectual property rights of the entry, and once the infringement is discovered, the qualification and the award will be invalid, and the participant shall bear all legal responsibilities.

(2) Entrants bear the responsibility of protecting the intellectual property rights of their works. The organizing committee has the right to carry out media publicity, publication and distribution, display and industrialization trading of the contents.

(3) Participants have the obligation to cooperate with the organizing committee of the award to promote the transformation and industrial application of achievements. If you do not cooperate, the organizing committee reserves the right to cancel the relevant awards.

B. Instructions

(1) All kinds of materials sent to the Organizing Committee will not be returned, and participants are not allowed to make any claims.

(2) If there is any dispute about the award, the evaluation result shall prevail. According to the quality and degree of innovation of the entries, the organizing committee has the right to vacate the award.

(3) The specific arrangements of the award shall be formulated and announced by the organizing committee. The organizing committee reserves the right of final interpretation of the award.

11. Transformation & Application of Award Results

A. Participate in Grand Prix events

The winners of the main awards of the award will have the opportunity to be invited to participate in international exchange activities such as award ceremonies, exhibitions and forums, international research and workshops.

B. Fruit Incubation

The organizing committee has the right to select and incubate relevant content, and give priority to publicity and promotion through various platforms to incubate applications.
